Is it true that canaries only sing when kept in separate cages?
Today, it's beautifully sunny, and from my kitchen window, I can see the neighbors sitting in front of their houses. They all have north-facing gardens or balconies, and when the sun shines, the stoop is transformed into a prime piece of real estate.

If this happens on the weekend, there's a recognizable pattern. Only a few people appear in the late morning. Sitting in front of their open doors with a cup of coffee, they read the newspaper. It's like a slow unfolding. Kids come out and play, and as the afternoon rolls on, children grow tired. Fights get moderated, some cry and others are brought back into the house for naps. Reading time is over, and that's when the chatting begins and the wine comes out. First one bottle, then another and another. Each neighbor brings whatever they have on hand, red, white, and rosé.

Now, everyone remains by their door. They call out to each other and chat from a far.

What if birds aren't singing they're screaming
I got high, I thought I saw an angel
But he was just a ghost
He was making wooden posts out of my family

What if birds aren't singing they're screaming
What if birds aren't singing they're screaming

What if my moon gets caught up in my waning
Trapped under a sky left blacker than the eyes of my visitors

What if birds aren't singing they're screaming
What if birds aren't singing they're screaming

I got high, I thought I saw an angel
But it was just a ghost heaving under his cloak

What if birds aren't singing they're screaming
What if birds aren't singing they're screaming

A memory from another time zone: "I saw green beans in the market."
They sing:
"People like us never give up."
She yelled across the courtyard:
"BINGO"

And he said: "Looks, like we have a winner."

Everyone wondered what the prize would be, and how it would be delivered.
On Youtube, I opened the preferences, hit the control button on my mac and clicked "loop".

Loop (noun)
1. a shape produced by a curve that bends round and crosses itself.
2. a structure, series, or process, the end of which is connected to the beginning.)

Aldous Harding's viscous voice wraps around this childlike melody. I am on a carousel ride without without end.
